Joseph Hebb "Joey" Johnson, III, 51, of St. Leonard, MD died June 7, 2013 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD.

Born November 2, 1961, in Leonardtown, MD, he is the son of Joseph Hebb "Buster" Johnson, Jr. of Lexington Park, MD and Jean Goodwin of California, MD.

Joey was a life long resident of Southern MD and earned his degree in electronics from TESST Academy. He demonstrated extreme dependability and skill during his 29 years as a professional truck driver for the " Miller and Long Company" based in Clinton.

He was an avid antique collector, with vast knowledge of antiques. He enjoyed reading books and researching various topics especially history, working on and repairing cars, camping, cheering on the Washington Redskins, cooking and baking. He enjoyed taking walks on the beach of the Chesapeake Bay near his home. He traveled extensively with his job, visiting many states on the East Coast. He also traveled to Yuma, AR, Mexico and Shenandoah National Park. He was an animal lover, especially fond of his dog, "Hunter."

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his long term companion, Richard Allen Best of St. Leonard, MD; his siblings, Thomas Brian Johnson of Virginia Beach, VA, Donna Marie Owens (Thomas) of Valley Lee, MD, and Pamela Ann Johnson of Lexington Park, MD; his niece, Katie Paras (Jimmy) of Pasadena, MD; his nephews, Tommy Owens of Valley Lee, MD, Larry Holsinger of Lexington Park, MD; and "adopted nephew Jamel Hebb" and his in-laws, Thomas and Fran Best of Fredericksburg, MD. He felt very close to his aunts and uncles especially Betty and Ray Dion.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Agatha Adams and Joseph and Margaret Johnson; and stepfather, George Goodwin. He is also predeceased by his uncle Robert (Bobby) Adams who was a mentor as well as a good friend to Joey and Rick.

Family will receive friends for Joey's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m., with prayers recited by Father Raymond Schmidt at 7 p.m., at Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD. Interment will be private.
