Dorsey, Alice Elizabeth (Age 80) of Waldorf, Maryland.

Alice was born on October 24, 1930 to the late Dorothy Cecilia Johnson and the late James Bernard Dorsey.

Alice was educated in the Charles County Public School System. She worked for Audrey M. Conner, M.D. and the late George A. Kelser, M.D. for over 40 years in Bethesda, Maryland. She retired in 1998 to care for her only grandson.

Alice had a quiet, humble spirit, and she was deeply loved by all whose lives she touched. She was the eldest sister and was respected by all family. She was revered as a matriarch by everyone who knew her. Her sister, Evelyn, lovingly said "She was and is our shepherd, and we were her flock".

She had a strong love for baseball, and spent many hours watching the sport with one of her closet siblings, Ernest, who loved the game as much as she did. She loved to play cards with her family and friends. She had a passion for cooking and you could always count on a delicious home-cooked meal whenever she was around.

She loved all of her family deeply but she had a strong connection to: Karen Kelser, her self-proclaimed daughter whom she nurtured for over forty years; her nieces, Joyce Yates and Terry Glascoe; and Edward Toyer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Dorsey; her brothers, Elmer Dorsey, John Dorsey, Joseph Dorsey, Francis Dorsey, and Oscar Dorsey.

On Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at her home in Waldorf, Maryland and surrounded by her family, Alice peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda M. Dunbar; grandson, Cedric L. Dunbar; son-in-law, Leon L. Dunbar, Sr., self-proclaimed daughter, Karen Kelser and her husband, Khaled Hamami and daughters, Imani and Dina, stepmother, Alice E. Dorsey, six sisters: Mary Hicks, Dorothy Goldring, Evelyn Mikel, June Maclin, Alice Plater, and Carolyn Briscoe, two brothers: Louis Steven Bowman and James "Pat" Dorsey and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.

Her Viewing, will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 10:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newport (11555 St. Mary's Church Road, Charlotte Hall, Maryland 20622). Interment, Church Cemetery.

Irma Mildred Dorsey, age 78, of Chesapeake Beach, MD died May 7, 2011 at Calvert Memorial Hospital. She was born May 13, 1932 in Prince Frederick, MD to William E and Edith C. (Meade) Hance, Jr. Irma was educated in Calvert County and was a 1952 graduate of Calvert High School.

She married Harvey Lynn Dorsey September 23, 1962 at Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

In her leisure Irma enjoyed gardening and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 1, 2002, a son Franklin Charles "Chuck" Dorsey and a sister Dorothy Hall.

Surviving are two sons James H. Dorsey and his wife Marie of Chaptico, MD and John H. Dorsey and his wife Margaret of Chesapeake Beach, MD; seven grandchildren Holly Dorsey of Chambersburg, PA, John Dorsey of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Mary Grace Donohue of Tampa FL, Chris Dorsey of Huntingtown, MD, James, Jr. and Jennifer Dorsey both of Chaptico and Amy Dorsey of NC; three great grandchildren Logan Brown, Josh Reeder and Michael Dorsey and a brother William E. Hance of Huntingtown, Md.

Howard Francis Dorsey, Jr., 78, of Annapolis, MD., formerly of California, MD passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 5, 2012. Born on October 11, 1933 in Baltimore, MD., he was the son of the late Helen Eleanor Fischer Dorsey, and Howard Francis Dorsey, Sr.

Howard was the loving husband of Alexis Marinoff Dorsey whom he married on November 22, 1975 in Alexandria, VA.

Mr. Dorsey is survived by his children: Eileen E. Bildman (Steven) of Hollywood, MD, Anita N. Sullivan of La Plata, MD, Howard F. Dorsey, III (Toni) of California, MD., and David A. Dorsey of Annapolis, MD. Mr. Dorsey is also survived by his 7 grandchildren: Colleen M. Clarke, Richard F. Aud, April N. Ryan, James C. Morgan, Kayla A. Dorsey, and Rachael E. Dorsey and siblings: Harold F. Dorsey (Diane) of Huddleston, VA., and Stephen M. Dorsey (Joyce) of Pasadena, MD.

Howard is preceded in death by his grandson Kevin M. Clarke.

Mr. Dorsey graduated from Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore, MD in 1952 and attended Loyola College in Baltimore, MD. Howard resided in St. Mary's County from 1970- 1986. Howard career began at Howards Auto Service, Baltimore, MD (Family owned business until 1969, when he joined the Maryland Natural Resources Police from 1969-1996 retiring with rank of Sgt.

He was a member of the U.S Army Reserve 464th Transport Command based in Annapolis, MD and he was a member of the pistol team where he completed in Nationals at Camp Perry in 1969 and won small arms competition. Howard was a member of the Elks and Moose Lodge in St. Mary's County, MD.

Howard volunteered for 17 years acquiring over 3,500 hours with Auxiliary of Anne Arundel Medical Center, he also enjoyed square dancing with Crabtown Squares, Campfire Squares, Spinning Windmills, and previously Pax Hoedowners, and he enjoyed camping, model boat building, home improvement Projects, Pistol Competitions, and boating.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 5:00-8:00 PM with prayers at 7:00 PM in St. John Neumann Catholic Church,620 Westbestgate Road Annapolis, MD 21401 Annapolis, MD with Father Tizio officiating, and Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD with Fr. John Mattingly officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be: Howard F. Dorsey, III, David A. Dorsey, and Richard F. Aud, Harold F. Dorsey, Stephen Dorsey, Sr., and Stephen Dorsey, Jr.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Auxiliary of Anne Arundel Medical Center, 2001 Medical Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Baby Ja'liyah Marie Dorsey passed away on July 16, 2013. Ja'liyah was born at St. Mary's MedStar, Leonardtown, MD, on July 16, 2013 at 3:37 am. She weighed 7 lbs. 2.6 oz., 19" long. Ja'liyah passed gently into the arms of Jesus one minute later on the same day. She is the daughter of Jermaine Dorsey and Patrice Lucas, of Lexington Park, MD.

Ja'liyah was the answer to her parents' prayers as they waited for her birth with joyful expectations. Heavens gain was their loss when their Princess was called by our Lord.  Ja'liyah was taken too soon. Her life was a brief gift to her parents and family and she will live in their hearts forever.   She was loved by all who saw her and will be greatly missed.  

She is being greeted in Heaven by her great grandmother, Mary M. Johnson; great grandfather, Walter Lloyd and great grandfather, Everett Lucas.

Ja'liyah is deeply loved by her surviving parents, Jermaine Cornelius Dorsey and Patrice Nicole Lucas; sister, Ja'nia Katrice Dorsey, of Lexington Park, Md; her grandparents, Joseph Anthony and Laurie Victoria Miles, of Lexington Park, MD and California, MD; grandfather, Donald Lucas, of Crofton, MD; grandmother, Tina Marie Kelton, of LaPlata, MD; grandfather, Kyle Ray Wilson, of La Plata, MD. and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

Ja'liyah will always be her parents "Precious Princess" and Ja'nia's little sister and they will hold her again in Heaven one day.                                                                                                             
A celebration of Ja'liyah's life will be memorialized on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 10:00 am for visitation until time of service at 10:30 am at Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home, 38576 Brett Way, Mechanicsville, MD. Interment to follow at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church Cemetery, Lexington Park, MD. Pastor Michael Barber will be officiating.
