William Theodore "Bill" Duryea, 67, of La Plata, MD died on September 21, 2014 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Born on October 20, 1946 in Great Barrington, MA he was the eldest son of the late Theodore and June Duryea of South Egremont, MA.

After graduating from Mount Everett High School, Bill joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam as a Ground Radio Operations Supervisor. He retired in 1984 (Retired Master Sgt.) after a successful military career.

In his younger years, he excelled at golf and bowling. He was an avid reader who taught himself how to build computers. He enjoyed fishing, tag sales and riding the lawn mower, but his most favorite pastime was attending his grandchildren's soccer, football, baseball, and basketball games.

He was preceded in death by his son, William Michael Duryea. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Michele Joan Sadera Duryea; his daughters, Carol Marie Duryea and Celeste Angela Cunningham; his four grandsons, Joseph Randall Cunningham, Keith Daniel Cunningham, John Matthew Lewis, and Shane Michael Duryea; and his great-granddaughter, Hannah Lynn Cunningham-Westerfield. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert A. Duryea of Albuquerque, NM and Ruth E. Ostrom of Tavares, FL.

Arrangements are being handled by Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. in La Plata, MD. Interment will be in South Egremont, MA at a later date. Memorials are asked to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.
