Sharon Elizabeth Wood, 46, of La Plata, MD passed away on September 13, 2014 at home. She was born at Physicians Memorial Hospital on January 26, 1968 in Charles County, MD.

She leaves to cherish her memory, parents Weldon and Pat Wood, sister Julie Murphy-Swann (Tommy), nephew Pete Murphy (partner Jennifer Abell), niece Jenn Norleen (Kenny) and fiancé Will Kivett.

Sharon graduated Magna Cum Laude from Towson State where she earned a BS degree in Elementary Education. She taught for twenty years at both Eva Turner and J.C. Park. And earned a masters degree in Curriculum Design.

Sharon loved shooting which lead to her being an excellent marksman with a pistol and shotgun. She loved horses, antique collecting, fishing, reading, family time and being at the beach.

On the fiftieth anniversary of queen nicotina at the Charles County Fair. Sharon was crowned Queen following her grandmother Ethel Bowling who was the first Queen Nicotina.

Sharon was a dedicated teacher and forever friend. She bought love, faith, happiness and inspiration to many.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday September 17, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 for viewing with prayers at 7pm at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, MD.
