Cecil Jack Slagle, of La Plata, MD died on August 23, 2014 at his residence. He was 75 years old. Jack was born and raised in Elizabethton, TN.

He was an accomplished guitarist, a talented tenor singer, and served the Lord as part of the Psalmsmen Quartet, a southern gospel music group.

Jack started working in the construction industry as a teenager. He was a skilled craftsman in many home construction fields and moved to Southern MD where he established Waldorf General Contractors, a roofing, siding, and home improvement company.

After retiring, he enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, and spending time playing the guitar and listening to his collection of southern gospel music. He also enjoyed family vacations to his beloved TN. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is the son of the late Cecil Slagle and the late Flora May Andes Slagle. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Matilda Ruth Minton Slagle; four sons, Charles Ray Slagle, Cecil Jack Slagle Jr., Ricky Lynn Slagle, and Michael Lynn Slagle; four daughters, Carol Sue Childers, Kathy Marie Slagle, Cynthia Ann Workman, and Donna Lorraine Slagle; one sister, Charlotte Ann Maguire; 18 grandchildren, Brian Christopher Hobson, Jessica Lynn Childers, Christopher Allen Vaughn, Nolan Ryan Childers, Kristen Faith Slagle, Ashton Elizabeth Slagle, Melanie LeeAnne Pennington, Dustin Andrew Vaughn, Cassandra Lynn Fisher, Aaron Loyal Bunton, Katelynn Elizabeth Slagle, Brooke Alexis Pennington, Matthew Raud Bunton, Kellsey Rochelle Slagle, Austin Ryan Slagle, Andrew Lloyd Slagle, Megan Lynn Slagle, and Conner Jackson Slagle; and one great-grandchild, Mila Sage Elizabeth Jones.

Friends received on Saturday, August 30, 2014 from 11AM until time of Service at 1PM at the Anchor Baptist Church, 10440 Crain Highway, Faulkner, MD 20632. Interment at a later date in Elizabethton, TN. Arrangements by Raymond Funeral Service in La Plata, MD.
