Joseph Allen "Mousie" Gant of Waldorf, MD, died on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the University of MD Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata. He was 55 years old. Born on April 16, 1959 in Newburg, MD, he is the son of Frances Louise Gant.

Mr. Gant loved to work on cars, watch wrestling, cheer for the Pittsburgh Steelers but most importantly, spending time with family, especially playing with the grandkids and being with friends. He also loved driving and going to different places.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved companion Elisabeth Welch; his son Ryan Gant; his daughters Shayla Gant, Sybil Gant, Shanise Gant, Layla Johnson, and Amaya Johnson; his step-sons Jesse Mothershed and Justin Mothershed; step-daughter Danielle Mothershed; his brother James Yates; his sister Cynthia Johnson (Monroe); and his grandchildren Khalil Bannister and Jaymee Barnes.

Visitation on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 10AM until time for Mass to begin at 11AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, 100 Village Street, Waldorf, MD 20602. Interment to follow at Heritage Memorial Cemetery in Waldorf, MD.
