Patsy Gail Stokes Burton, of La Plata, MD died on July 31, 2014 in Upper Marlboro, MD. She was 69 years old.

Patsy was an accountant with various accounting agencies.

She loved and was an active member of the Anchor Baptist Church in Faulkner, MD. She never had an angry word and loved to volunteer and help the community. If she loved anything after her family and the church, she loved a beautiful pair of shoes.

She is the daughter of the late Millard Stokes and the late Mae Whitfield Stokes. She is also predeceased by her daughter, Joy Carol Burton.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Mack Arthur Burton; her son, Benjamin R. Burton and his fiancé Christen Nelson; her daughters, Tonya L. Burton Derryberry and her husband Rick and Kay B. Young and her husband Geoff; her brother, Wayne Stokes and his wife Myra; her sisters, Faye McGainey, Sue Herod and her husband Joe, Barbara Carpenter, and Donna Lemley and her husband Wayne; and her grandchildren, Jonathan Derryberry, Colin & Ryan Young, Jacob Burton, and one on the way.

Friends received on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 6PM until time of Funeral Service at 7PM at the Anchor Baptist Church, 10440 Crain Highway, Faulkner, MD 20632. Interment will be on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Shelvin Rock Baptist Church Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.
