Muriel Jasper Reckeweg, 87, of Waldorf, Maryland died July 24, 2014 at the Morningside House in Waldorf, Maryland. She was born on September 17, 1926 in Washington DC. She was the daughter of the late Albert Alton Jasper, Sr. and Muriel Maxine Pettus.

Muriel was much loved by her husband, children, grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and will be dearly missed.

Muriel was primarily a homemaker, but spent several years as the secretary for the Silesia Early Learning Center in Ft. Washington, Maryland. Muriel spent many happy hours volunteering at the Southern Maryland Christian Academy, touching the lives of the children she worked with.

She loved poetry, crossword puzzles, shopping, and crocheting. Her afghans can be found in all of her children's homes.

Muriel is survived by her children, Frederick Alton Reckeweg (Sandra) of Waldorf, MD, Gail Muriel Hendry (Robert) of Waldorf, MD, and Holly Joy Lloyd (Steven) of Gambrills, MD; her grandchildren, Andrew, Jeffery, and Matthew Reckeweg, Katherine, Robert, and Samantha-Joy Hendry, and Hannah, Rebecca, and Amanda Lloyd; her great-grandchildren Penelope Reckeweg and Carson Green; and her brother Richard Jasper of Gambrills, MD.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Alton Jasper, Jr. and her beloved husband of 47 years, Frederick Vernon Reckeweg.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Huntt's Funeral Home, Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD. A Funeral Service will be held at Huntt's Funeral Home on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetary in Suitland, MD.
