Patrick T. McGarry of La Plata, MD died May 6, 2014 at his home. He was the son of the late Matthew J. and Edith L. McGarry. He was 84 years old.

Mr. McGarry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary A. Burke McGarry and his children, David McGarry and his wife Patricia, Sean McGarry and his wife Elizabeth, and Clare Forbes and her husband Nick. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the first graduating class of DeMatha Catholic High School in 1949 and attended Catholic University. He was employed by the Fruit Growers Express Company as a freight claim agent for 25 years. After retiring, he was employed by the College of Southern Maryland. He was a member of the La Plata Community Garden Club and also enjoyed fox hunting as a member of the De Le Brooke Foxhounds. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11AM at the Carmelite Monastery, 5678 Mt. Carmel Road, La Plata, MD 20646.
