Beverly Lynn Thrift of La Plata, MD died on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton. She was 62 years old. Born on September 24, 1951 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of Richard Lowell Statler and the late Dorothy Mae Statler.

She received her degree in Art and Math Education from the University of Maryland. She was a teacher with the Prince George's County School Board, teaching art, math, and horticulture before retiring.

An active member of her community, Mrs. Thrift was involved with the Project Linus, the Port Tobacco Players, and the CSM Theater Group. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of La Plata and enjoyed quilting in her spare time.

In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband Dennis Lyell Thrift; her son Michael Lonnie Thrift and his wife Lauren Gail; her sisters Claudia Leigh Ruoff, Joanne Leslie Ruest, and Dorothy Mae Hurley; and her brother Richard Lowell Statler.

Visitation on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2014 beginning at 10AM at the First Baptist Church of La Plata, 9070 Hawthorne Road, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.
