Eleanor R. Cleaveland of La Plata, Maryland, died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata. She was 79 years old.

Born on July 1, 1934 in Exeter, Virginia she was the daughter of the late Bessie Chesser and the late Robert Taylor Fugate.

She was an Instructional Aid with special needs children for the Charles County Board of Education, mainly working at the F. B. Gwynn Center and at Eva Turner School. She enjoyed reading and listening to music, but her main passion was her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert L. Cleaveland Sr.; her children Deborah L. Cleaveland, Robert L. Cleaveland Jr. and his wife Marylou, Larry W. Cleaveland and his wife Stephanie, Richard L. Cleaveland, Janice E. Young and her husband Ronald, Carl D. Cleaveland, Patricia A. Cleaveland and her husband Gerard Magrogan, Lori J. Hitt and her husband Robert; her sister Elsie Fultz and her husband Robert; her grandchildren Sara Cleaveland, Shane Cleaveland, Christopher Cleaveland, Gabrielle Cleaveland, Seth Cleaveland, Casi Cleaveland, Shannon Cleaveland, Richard Cleaveland Jr., Kelly Cleaveland, Ronald Young Jr., Corey Young, Paige Magrogan, Amanda Stubaus, and Robert K. Hitt; her great grandchildren Sierra Jackson, Devon Jackson, Tierney Knott, Isiah Briandt, Madison Sosa, Avery Wright, Christopher Stubaus, Emalee Stubaus, Kassidy Stubaus, and Carson Stubaus; numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 where Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 beginning at 10AM with Reverend Steve Davis officiating. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Ronald Young Jr., Corey Young, Christopher Cleaveland, Shane Cleaveland, Richard Cleaveland Jr., and Robert Hitt.
