Jerome B. Holt, 80, of Indian Head, Maryland, was born on December 15, 1933 to the late Francis and Nancy Holt. He accepted Christ at an early age. He entered into eternal peace on Monday, January 13, 2014 at United Medical Center after a short illness.

Jerome received his education in the Prince George's County public school system. He worked as a construction worker for several years before he became an employee with the Board of Education of Charles County. Having retired from the Board of Education in August 2002, he consistently was known as an exemplary employee.

During his life, Jerome enjoyed many pursuits including playing baseball, watching Redskins and Nationals, working on automobiles, cooking and tinkering around the house. His kitchen was always open to his children and their friends and he was known for great food (pig feet, chitterlings and beans, especially) and for his great hospitality. He found joy and blessings from the birth of his children, Michael, Nancy, Tawrence and Marquette; and his youngest, Miracle, who was born from his December 1991 union to Eliza Mae Pettiford (deceased).

Jerome was a loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He leaves to cherish his memories a host of relatives and friends to include two daughters, Nancy E. Holt and Marquette E. Sanders; three sons, Michael J. Dyson (Patricia), Tawrence B. Holt, and Miracle J. Holt; one step son Nathaniel Pettiford; a spiritual daughter, Mellanie Johnson (Zebedee); a spiritual son, Perry Jones; one sister-in-law, Gladys Hungerford; one niece, Alice Dixon (Charles); five grandchildren, Aisha Sanders, Michael Dyson, Jr., Justin Dyson, Corey Dyson (Tereese) and Tawrence Holt, Jr. (Teresa); one great granddaughter, London Ofosu-Dyson; two step granddaughters Lakeisha Queen, Nyera Davis one great nephew, Anthony Alston (Gloria) and a host of cousins, other relatives, in-laws and friends.

He will now be embraced by many in Heaven who include his parents, wife and his brother, Norman Hungerford.

God give us the strength to face it.
