James "Jack" Franklin Russell, 87 of Charlotte Hall, MD, passed away on November 9, 2013 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, MD. Jack was born on September 17, 1926 to the late John Phillip Russell and the late Catherine Regina Dean Russell.

Jack served his country in the Korean War and was a self-employed Builder in Prince George's County. He enjoyed Boxing and was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame on November 21, 2003. He also owned, trained, and raced Thoroughbred Horses.

In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Lucille Shaw Russell, son, James "Turk" Russell, Jr., brothers, Joe Russell, Johnny Russell, Bill Russell, Charlie Russell, sisters, Bessie Burroughs and Mary Catherine Dean.

He is survived by his sons, Donald E. Russell, Ronald P. Russell, daughters, Catherine M. Edwards (Mike), Sandra R. Grello (Nick), daughter-in-law, Nancy Mauney Russell, brothers, George Russell, Pete Russell, sister Margaret Ann McConnell, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received for Jack's Visitation on Sunday, November 17, 2013 from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM at New Life Church, 9690 Shepherds Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646, with Pastor Aaron Rummage officiating. Interment will follow to Cedar Hill Cemetery, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, MD 20746.

Pallbearers will be Michael Edwards II, James Russell, Justin Russell, Tony Russo, Charlie Russell, and Nick Grello.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home at 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622.
