Shirley Cecilia Farmer Winters also known as Shirl, Squirrel & Maw Maw, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on August 24, 2013 at the Hospice House of Charles County in Waldorf, Maryland. Shirley was born April 15, 1952 in Dentsville, Maryland to the late Susie Farmer and Benjamin Jenifer.

She was educated in the Charles County Public School system and graduated from La Plata High School in 1971.

At the very young age of five years old, Shirley went to live with her special mother and cousin Blanche Dorsey -Winters in Dentsville, Maryland. Shirley married Carl Winters on June 24, 1976, out of that union two children were born.

She worked for Peoples Drug Store formerly in La Plata, Maryland and from time to time as a substitute teacher for the Board of Education in Charles County. Shirley made a career of working in the local country deli stores including Posey's Market, Twin Kiss and prior to her disability Cooksey's Store.

Shirley enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo, attending church dinners, cooking, spending quality time with her grandchildren, watching the redskins play football and socializing with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents; she is preceded in death by special mother Blanche Dorsey Winters and very close friend/cousin Ann Holt.

Shirley leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories daughter Melissa Nicole Winters; son James Kevin Winters; Three granddaughters: Aniyah, Jasmine and Jaelynn; one special daughter-in-law Joanna Winters; sister Jackie Dotson, brother Joseph Dorsey; half-brother James Jenifer; special brother Howard Dorsey; special daughter Ann Woodland; special niece Ashley Dotson; godchildren, Shadauna Yates, Darould Butler Sr., Sidney Butler Sr. and Barbara Cole; close friend/cousin Mary Lou Cole; one brother in-law James Winters Sr.(Mary Annie); three sister-in-laws Yvonne Robinson (James), Wilma Estep (Lonnie), Gladys Estep and Alice Winters; special friend Irene Edwards and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday August 30, 2013 from 9 am to 11 AM at the St. Mary's Newport Church. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
