James Bernard Hoffman, of La Plata, Maryland, formerly of Waldorf, died on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in La Plata. He was 84 years old.

Born on October 11, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Louise Klein and the late John Ernest Hoffman.

Mr. Hoffman served in the U. S. Naval Reserves from 1954 to 1960 and later worked as a construction superintendent for Schlosser Mechanical Company. He was a member of the St. Columba Masonic Lodge #150, member and past Governor of the Waldorf Moose Lodge #1709, past member of the Port Tobacco Players, member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #82 and a member of the Carpenter's Union Local #132. He was the former owner of Hoffman's Woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Mae Hoffman; his brother John C. Hoffman; his sister Margaret Loefler.

He is survived by his sons James B. (Sandy) Hoffman Jr. of Woodbridge, VA, Danny Braun of Chicago, IL and Ronald Braun of Billingsley Rd; his daughters Cecelia Coslaouno of Chicago, IL, Irene Howard of Lacome, IL, Alice Tucker of La Plata, Jennifer Wood of La Plata, Marianne Perrin of Waldorf, Cathleen Boyden of Deale Island, MD and Elizabeth Braun of La Plata; brother of Millie Adderson; grandfather of 18 and great grandfather of four.

Visitation on Monday, August 19, 2013 from 2 to 4PM and from 6 to 8PM with Moose Memorial Service at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.

Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 beginning at 10AM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel with the Reverend Randy Randall officiating.

Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
