John Hunt Brown of Bryans Road, MD died on August 13, 2013 at his residence. He was 89 years old.

Mr. Brown was a retired chief petty officer with the United States Navy, having served for 21 years and went on to work at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head.

He was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Indian Head, MD. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, and western novels. He loved traveling and seeing the world with his wife.

He is the son of the late Walter True Brown and the late Madelyn Hunt Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Yolande M. "Dixie" Brown; two sons: Eugene "Buddy" Brown and his wife Sandra and Walter "Bucky" Brown and his wife Cindy; one daughter: Margaret Hamrick and her husband David; and one sister: Ruth Hennsey. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Friends received on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 from 10AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 30 Mattingly Avenue, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment to follow at MD Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
