Helen Vivian Bridenstine, 88, of Mechanicsville, MD passed peacefully August 11, 2013 at Washington Hospital Center. Born May 9, 1925 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of Joseph Elmer McCoy and Mable Newby McCoy.

Helen worked for 38 years as a manager for the C & P Telephone Company and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She was married October 6, 1945 in Kensington, MD to Carl Edwin Bridenstine. They were married for 57 years.

Known by her family as "quite a talker" and affectionately known by members of the community as "Ms. B" or "Ma", she was well-loved by them all. Helen was also an advocate for her late grandson, Stephen D. Mattingly, II who was born with Down Syndrome.

Helen was predeceased by her husband, Carl; daughter-in-law, Catherine Bridenstine; grandson, Stephen D. Mattingly, II; brother, Robert McCoy and sister, Arlene Lee.

She is survived by her children, Shirley Mattingly (Steve) and son, Joseph Bridenstine; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for Helen's Life Celebtration on Friday, August 16, 2013 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00P.M. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be Joe Bridenstine, Joey Bridenstine, Steve Mattingly, Eric Lehman, Charlie Wright and Christian Ware. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby McCoy and Rebecca Lee.
