Ray Eddis James of King George, VA (formerly of Pomfret, MD) died on May 27, 2013 at his daughter's residence. He was 81 years old.

Son of the late Frank James and the late Helen Elizabeth Stevens James. Husband of the late Davinia Ann Vandegrift James; father of seven daughters, Davinia Ann Gilroy, Raye Ann Varns, Patty James, Deborah James, Sheila Riechert, Virginia Wikert, and Tammy Waterman; brother of Jack and Henry James and Shirley Guy. Also survived by 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Ray was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Korea. He was a custom painter, mainly with Weaver Custom Painting in Waldorf, MD for 50 years. He loved being with family (daughters and grandchildren). He enjoyed boating, fishing, traveling, eating, and the Redskins.

Friends received on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 5-8PM with Funeral Service at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment at MD Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 2PM. Pallbearers: Mike and Brandon James, Cecil Gilroy Jr., Garrett Waterman, Nelson Lara Jr., and Jamie Abell. Honorary Pallbearers: United States Army Guard.
