Carol Lee (Drinks) Gehring, 79, of Hughesville, died May 13, 2013 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.

Born December 29, 1933 in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Drinks, Sr. and the late Wilhelmina Uhlich Drinks. She was also preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Henry Herman Gehring; her brother, Edward Drinks; and her sister, Lillian Drinks Peterson.

Mrs. Gehring was a long-time employee of the then C&P Telephone Company. As a young woman, she was employed with SMECO where she met her husband of over 50 years. She was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was an animal lover and opened her home and heart to many rescue dogs over her lifetime. She was a generous woman and would do anything for anyone, especially her children.

She is survived by three daughters, Patty Derecola and her companion Chuck Turner of Indian Head, Judy Brown and her husband Carl of Welcome, and Jennifer Gehring of Hughesville; grandchildren, Erin, Kasey, William, and Carl II; a brother, Charles Drinks; and sisters, Diane Drinks Dean and Judy Drinks Norris.

Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 11AM at St. Mary's Bryantown Catholic Church, 13715 Notre Dame Place, Bryantown, MD 20617. Pallbearers: Carl Brown, Carl Brown II, Chuck Turner, Scott Dean, Tommy Dean, Mike Drinks, and Honorary Pallbearer: William Henry Brown. Interment will be private.
