Louise S. Wilkerson, 82, of Lexington Park, MD, formerly from Washington, DC passed away on March 29, 2013 in Washington, DC. Born on September 4, 1930 in Danville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Sarah O. and Charles E. Stivers.

Louise is survived by her children; Michael G. Wilkerson of Washington, DC, Maria T. Harris and Patrick T. Wilkerson both of Lexington Park, MD, 6 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. . Louise is also survived by her siblings; James E. Barden of Durham, NC, Frederic Barden of Los Angeles, CA, and Cedric Barden of Roxboro, NC.

Louise attended Tuskegee Institute from 1948 to 1952, graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Education. Louise served in the United State Air Force from June 12, 1956 to November 28, 1958, and earned the Good Conduct Medal. Louise was an Elementary School Teacher at R.R. Moten School in Farmville, VA, Whittier Elementary School in Washington, DC, and an Editorial Assistant for the Congressional Quarterly, Inc.

She moved to St. Mary's County in 2004.

Louise enjoyed playing piano/organ for various churches, and organizations, teaching Sunday school, substitute teaching, and teaching piano.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM in the Lexington Park United Methodist Church Lexington Park, MD with Pastor Doug and Lori Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD.
