Jon Attaquin Pocknett, III (Age 20) of Indian Head, Maryland, was born October 30, 1992 to Shirley Leavern Lucas and Jon Pocknett, Jr. On Tuesday, February 12, 2013, with much life left to live, he suddenly transitioned into eternal life.

Jon was affectionately known as "Jay," "Musha" and "Baby Jon" by family and friends. He was the son his Dad had dreamed of having, and ultimately became the love of his life. In reflection, his father believes the day Jon was born was the best day of his life.

Jon was educated in the Charles County Public School System and graduated from Maryland National Guard Freestate Academy. Some of the greatest accomplishments in his life were being a member of the Maryland National Guard and the Mattawoman Shed Society, receiving his diploma and applying for an electrical apprentice program, completing all of his paperwork to enter in to the Coast Guard and waiting to be called. He was employed by JPocknett Service and worked side by side with his dad. He was also later employed by the United Parcel Service(UPS).

Jon was gifted with his hands in so many ways; not only as an electrician but also in carpentry. He was a great asset to his Dad. He was also strong, handsome and a caring young man. He had such a loving spirit that he could actually be very embracing. But, Jon was also a tough, strong minded individual who was much loved. The hobbies that interested him most were, UFC, musical instruments, fishing, crabbing and football. He greatly enjoyed family functions such as going to the Poconos, cookouts, Disneyworld and visiting Massachusetts. He also had a great interest in boats, but his greatest passion was his relationship with his brothers and family. Jon's proudest moment was the day he beat his Dad in basketball. It was a day they would often talk about.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Lucas and grandmother, Le Thi Lee.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his mother, Shirley Lucas, father, Jon Pocknett, Jr., step-mother, Ursula Pocknett; brothers, Rico Cruz, Antonio Bruce, Andre' Kelly and Darrell Kelly; grandparents, Jon Pocknett, Sr., Delores Pocknett, NaNa – Mrs. Alexandria Pocknett, Walter Kelly and Katherine Kelly; great grandmother, Nellie F. Jackson; aunts, Jackie Simms, Velma Lewis and Donna Coleman; uncles, Angelo Coleman, and a host of cousins and friends.
