Thomas (Sonny Boy) Rudolph Espina, 78, of Charlotte Hall, Maryland passed away at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD on January 3, 2013. He was born December 7, 1934 in Washington, DC to the late Edna Mae (McDonough) and Paul Nasan Espina.

He served in the Military with the U.S. Army. He retired from the Lithographers Union after thirty five years of service. Thomas enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, playing the lottery, and hot rods, but mostly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a big Washington Redskins fan. In his earlier days he enjoyed bowling.

Aside from his parents, Thomas was predeceased by his brother, George (Buddy) Espina; and 4 of his sisters, Helen DeLeon, Blanche McGee, Thelma Espina, Nancy Sison and Betty Lou Espina.

Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Karen (Brown) Espina; his children, Mark Espina and his wife Bonnie, Pamela Espina, and Christopher P. Espina; his 8 grandchildren, Amanda, Andrea, Allison, Ryan, Sara, Daniel, Kandice, and Christopher; his 4 great grandchildren, Mekhi, Malayna, Aiden, and Charlie; and four of his sisters, Rosa Bautista, Elizabeth (Betty) Jobe, Mary (Duty) Davis, and Juanita (Nita) Taylor and a large extended family.

Family and friends will be received to celebrate Thomas' life during a viewing on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with prayers beginning at 5:30 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. There will be a Graveside Service on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
