Robert Norman Tillett, affectionately known as "Jim" of La Plata, Maryland, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Genesis La Plata Center. He was 87 years old. Born on October 19, 1925 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Maude Elizabeth Sellers and the late John E. Tillett.

He was a brick mason for over 50 years with the George Hyman Construction Company. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II with Company F, 86th Mountain Infantry before being Honorably Discharged in 1945. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War (VFW) Post 9619 in Morningside, MD and a life member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. He loved golf and enjoyed going the the Masters.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tillett was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen Rhodes; his brothers Irving V. Tillett, Edgar Davis Tillett and John Francis Tillett.

He is survived by his sister Mary M. Reidy of South Carolina and by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation on Saturday, December 22, 2012 from 2PM until 4PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 with a V.F.W. Memorial Service to begin at 3:30PM. Service and Interment 1PM Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
