Albert Edward Lemke, 89 of Mechanicsville, MD, died on December 3, 2012 at his residence in Mechanicsville, Maryland. He was born on September 16, 1923 in Washington, DC to the late Benjamin Rudolph Lemke and Victoria M. Herman.

He was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed boating, crabbing, bicycling and yard sailing. Albert served in The United States Army during World War II, and he also received the Good Conduct Medal while serving his country.

Albert was predeceased by his parents; Benjamin R. Lemke and Victoria M. Herman and his wife, Grace Elizabeth Higgs Lemke; brothers; Benjamin Lemke and Roland Lemke; sisters: Victoria Mary Serrin and Ruby Libby.

Albert is survived by his daughters; Connie Gilcrist of Seabrook, MD; Judy Helton (Bob) of Flinestone, MD; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, and special friend: Barbara Brooks.

Family will receive friends for Albert's Visitation on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Funeral Service on Friday, December 7 at 12:00pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622, with Reverend James Chance officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3165 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20604.
