Laura Marie Clements, 67, of Ridge, Maryland died Friday, November 2, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospice House in Callaway, MD. Laura was born on December 26, 1944 in Washington, DC to the late Milton Groves and Doris Felter Ridgeway.

She graduated from Surrattsville High School in Clinton, MD. Then she attended Towson State College. She was employed by the Prince George's County Maryland Police Department as a secretary where she met her beloved husband Paul Clements. In 1977, she moved to St. Mary's County where she volunteered and substituted at Ridge Elementary School before becoming a classroom aide.

In 1998, she became secretary at Carver Elementary School in Lexington Park, MD. She retired from the St. Mary's County Public School System in 2005 after 27 years of dedicated service. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ridge, MD, the Ladies of Charity at St. Michael's, and the St. Mary's County Public Schools Retiree Association.

Laura leaves behind her beloved husband of 46 years, Paul Wilfred Clements; her daughter, Julie Marie Oakley (Bob); two grandchildren, Evelyn Oakley and Paul Oakley, both of Port Republic, MD, her sister, Margaret E. Collier (Don) of Clinton, MD; three step-daughters, Kathleen Evans of Greenville, NC, Rosemary Knox and Paulette Barber of Minneapolis, MN; 11 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Gene Ridgeway and step-grandson, Luke Barber.

Family will receive friends for Laura's Life Celebration on Tuesday, November 6th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, with prayers recited at 7 PM, at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Lee Fangmeyer on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael's Catholic Church, 16566 Three Notch Road, Ridge, MD 20680. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made in Laura's memory to Hospice House of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650.
