Dennis Brooks Stump of Waldorf, MD died on September 1, 2012 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. He was 65 years old. Dennis Stump was born on June 18, 1947 in Youngstown, OH. Shortly thereafter, his family relocated to Roanoke, VA where he spent his formative years and graduated from Patrick Henry Senior High School in 1965.

He entered the United States Air Force in June 1966 and served on active duty for more than 23 years. During his tour of duty, he performed duties in a variety of specialties—including fire protection, air rescue and recovery, and inflight passenger service with 10 years on the Presidential air crew.

In 1986, he began serving as special project representative on the U.S.A.F. Acquisition Team for the procurement of the Boeing 747 Air Force One aircraft. Upon retirement from the Air Force in December 1989, he entered the federal government work force as a Special Air Missions aircraft coordinator assigned to the Airlift Operations section of the White House Military Office. His responsibilities included planning, validating, and coordinating Department of Defense airlift assets in support of Presidential, Vice-Presidential, White House staff, and other high-level official travel on a world-wide basis.

In addition, he provided substantive input to the White House staff in their efforts to conduct travel safely, efficiently, and in as timely a manner as possible. Mr. Stump retired from the White House Military Office in January 2010.

Son of the late Alton Stump and the living Joyce Tillotson Stump.

Predeceased by his father Survived by his mother Joyce Tillotson Stump; his wife Joanie Hickerson Stump; one daughter Courtney Campbell and her husband James of Roanoke, VA; one brother Kenneth Stump of Roanoke, VA; one nephew Jason Stump; one niece Kelly Stump; and cousins.

Gathering: Saturday, October 6, 2012 from 1PM until the Memorial Service at 2PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Eulogy given by Dr. Tom Hickerson, M.D., brother-in-law of decedent. Interment: At a later date.
