John Lee Warnes of Waldorf, Maryland, formerly of Hagerstown, MD, died on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the Genesis Healthcare Center in La Plata, MD. He was 65 years old. Born on March 19, 1947 in Kingston, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Dorothy L. and the late Leonard J. Warnes.

Mr. Warnes was an Aircraft Mechanic for over 30 years with the 201st D. C. National Guard at Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, Maryland. A retired Master Sergeant with the U. S. Air Force with 32 years of service, Mr. Warnes was a member of the Tri-County Crusiers Car Club, owning a 1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. He loved antique cars and fishing. He was a military history buff and enjoyed model trains.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Anita Warnes; his son Erik J. Warnes and his fiancee Kaitlyn Ott of Waldorf, MD; his sister Susan Yoder and her husband Larry of Williamsport, MD.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 5PM until the time of the Memorial Service which would begin at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland at 2PM with Military Honors.
