Larry Douglas Vance of Waldorf, Maryland, died on July 19, 2012 at Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. He was 65 years old. Born on April 22, 1947 in Verdunville, WV, is the son of Sybil Maynard Vance of Claremont, NC and the late Wash Vance.

Mr. Vance was a retired Chief Master Sgt. Of Avionics and Aircraft Maintenance with the United States Air Force with 23 years of service and continued with HTA Aviation for an additional 10 years at Andrews AFB. He was an A&P certified mechanic and an IA Inspector. He had his commercial multi-engine pilot license and loved building remote control planes and trains - he was a member of the Charles County Remote Control Club. He was a long-time employee of Doug's Hobby Shop in Waldorf, MD and a member of New Life Wesleyan Church in La Plata, MD.

Predeceased by his father, Wash Vance.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 43 years Linda Vance; one son Brian D. (Lori) Vance of Lewisberry, PA; one daughter Julie S. (David) Bell of Waldorf, MD; special "adopted" son and daughter, Roger and Julia Vaughn; and 8 grandchildren: Emily and Amber Vance, Hannah Shelton, Haley Bell, Matthew and Bryce Carl, Austin and Madison Dalton.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 9AM until time of Funeral Service at 11AM at New Life Wesleyan Church (9690 Shepherd's Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646) with Rev. Aaron Rummage officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
