Jeffery Michael Geerts, 51, of Hollywood, MD died at his home on May 18, 2012. He was born in Davenport, Iowa on April 27, 1961 to James and Marilyn Haiston Geerts.

He joined the United States Navy in 1980 and served until 1984, honorably discharged as a Petty Officer 3rd Class. He had been employed by DynCorp, first as a truck driver and more recently as a mechanic.

His hobbies included camping, watching NASCAR and rooting for "his" driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

He is survived by his parents, James and Marilyn Geerts of Jacksonville, FL; wife of 10 years, Susan; daughter, Bambi Geerts of Great Mills, MD; brothers, Joseph Geerts and his wife Barb of Davenport, IA and Gerald Geerts of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Rose Stark and her husband Joe of Davenport, IA, Cindy Hanson and her husband Dave of Seattle, WA and several nieces and nephews.
