Savoy, Florine Rose Lawson (Age 73) of (Pisgah) Indian Head, Maryland.

On Thursday, May 11, 2012, at 8:40 a.m., Florine Rose Savoy departed this life at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Maryland and entered into eternal rest. Florine was born November 7, 1938 to the late Daniel Webster and the late Mamie Viola Richardson Lawson in Grayton, Maryland and was educated in the public school system of Charles County Maryland.

Florine was united in marriage to Samuel Savoy, June 15, 1957 by Reverend Edgar Haywood and from this union four children were born, Wendy, Daphne, Gwendolyn and the late Phelicia.

She worked for the Federal Government at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, Maryland for 33 and a half years before she retired in July of 1993. After retiring she worked as a bus attendant for Dinks Bus Service, where she began working in 1994. As a young Christian she attended River Grove and Oak Grove Baptist Churches in Grayton, MD.

Florine moved to Twin Oaks, PA. to live with her Aunt Dorothy, where she accepted Christ and was baptized in 1949 by the late Pastor Dency Richardson. She joined the Usher Board under the mentorship of her late Uncle George Lawson.

Upon relocating to Charles County and joining Oak Grove Baptist Church in 1953, Florine immediately assumed her duties as an Usher under the guidance of Sis. Emma Gutrick. Not only was she a devoted member, but Florine served as secretary for 32 years. As a member of the Ushers Ministry she attended numerous workshops, seminars and schools of instruction in both Baltimore and Washington, DC, which included three National Conventions; Memphis, TN (1965), Baltimore, MD (1981) and Cincinnati, OH (1982) where she was a member of the drill team competition for the State of Maryland and was placed 2nd in the competition. She was a member of the Ushers Ministry for 59 years and held several offices. She also served on the Trustee Ministry and was the Chief Depositor for the church until her untimely illness.

Florine was known as the social butterfly. She had an infectious smile and was loved by everyone she met. She had friends in every state and forced you to be happy, even on a bad day. Florine loved bowling with her sisters, known as the "Sister Act" bowling team. She enjoyed traveling, especially her trips to California to visit her oldest daughter and her family. She loved spending time with her family at cookouts and just having fun with family and friends. Going to dinner with Danny and Brenda to her favorite place in Delaware was an all-time favorite.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Phelicia Ann; two sisters, Sarah Thomas and Lucille Gaines.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Samuel; children Wendy, Daphne, Gwendolyn; grandchildren; Latrice, Lawrence, Daphne, Domonic, great grandchildren; Kelys, Keairra Rose, Ja'Niya, Domonic, Jr., DeAndre, brothers; Jessie (Catherine), William (Wanda), Daniel (LovJean) Lawson, sisters; Mary Swann (James), Celestine Smith and Mamie Johnson; a special brother-in-law Russell Savoy, a sister/cousin Kathryn Simm and a host of other relatives and friends. Also surviving are Andre, Shareen and Patrick who were a part of her extended family.

"I thank God for all the Blessings he has given me. I give him me. I give him all the Honor and Glory. I Praise his name to the Highest Hallelujah. I thank God for my parents, Aunt Dory and my family."
