Margarita Gunda Hardesty of Cobb Island, Maryland and of Florida, died suddenly on May 9, 2012 in Charlotte Hall, MD. She was 71 years old. Born on September 8, 1940 in Fulda, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Rita Schmidt and Waehtweister Ziege.

Mrs. Hardesty was a deli clerk for 18 years with Giant Food and a member of New Life Wesleyan Church in La Plata, MD. Prior to her work with Giant, she spent 11 years as a party coordinator with the Officers Club at Ft. Meade, MD. She loved to travel, boating, dancing, and cooking. She most enjoyed being with family and friends and spoiling her grand kids. She was known for making people laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, James Guy Hardesty; two sons, Ralf (Lisa) Mueller of Severna Park, MD and Daniel Mueller of Woodstock, MD; one daughter, Heidi (Rick) Blair of Leonardtown, MD; one brother, Horst (Imgard) Ziege of Germany; one sister, Dagmar Wentzel of Spain; six grandchildren, Drew, Matthew, Holly, Travis, Jacqueline, and Dylan; and one great- grandchild, Travis Jr.

Visitation: Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 4-8PM at New Life Wesleyan Church, 9690 Shepherds Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646. Memorial Service: Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 11AM at New Life Wesleyan Church. Interment: By family at a later date.
