Betty Ann Hooper, 80, of Hollywood, MD, passed away at her residence on April 29, 2012. Born May 15, 1931 in Martinsburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Hamilton Penwell and the late Georgia Anna Barton Penwell.

Betty was known as "Nanny" to her family and her friends. Her family was everything to her. When you saw Nanny you usually saw one of her grandchildren with her and she had a very special relationship with each of them. Her life was filled with many people that loved her and that shared good times with her.

Aside from her parents, Betty is predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Edward Hooper; her brother, Ray Lee Penwell; and her sister, Hilda Sellner.

Betty Ann is survived by her three daughters, Linda A. Harris (Lawrence) of Mechanicsville, MD, Pamela Lee Rhodes of Glenn Dale, MD, and Kimberly Kay Simpson (Mike) of La Plata, MD; her 7 grandchildren; her 6 great grandchildren; and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends for a Life Celebration on Monday, May 7, 2012 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Service will be held on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11:00AM, here at Brinsfield-Echols. Interment will immediately follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623.

Reception will be at the Moose Lodge in Mechanicsville, Maryland.
