Harold Lee Williams, Jr., peacefully departed this life on March 30, 2012.

Family and friends may gather with the family on Thursday, April 5, 2012 from 10 a.m until time of service 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 1100 North Capitol St. N.W. Washington, DC. Interment: Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery.

Harold Lee Williams Jr. was born on March 5, 1951, in Washington D.C. to Dorothy M. Williams and the late Harold Lee Williams Sr. Harold transitioned peacefully after a brief illness on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Veterans Hospital's Community Life Center.

Harold was the youngest of three children. He accepted Christ at an early age while a member of Lane Memorial CME Church, in Washington, D.C. He was educated in the DC Public School System. After graduating Harold enlisted in the US Army serving three years of distinction. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service he worked for the Internal Revenue Service and other government agencies.

In 1968, Harold was joined in matrimony to his childhood sweetheart, Beverly Ghee and to this union two children were born: Derrick Williams and Dana Williams. One of the many things Harold cherished in life most; was his family. He had a special affection for his grandchildren and never spared expense or his words of correction, when it came to them.

Harold was known to be strong and straightforward, yet a man with a caring and giving heart to those in need. When a call came for help, if he could he would. Harold enjoyed watching professional football, basketball and old western movies. He loved dressing up and going out to listen to "oldies but goodies" and as most Washingtonians do, "hand dancing." His daily social hour in his later years consisted of meeting his fellow veterans and longtime friends at the "Meeting Spot" at Veterans hospital, a gathering that he made faithfully until his illness prevented him from doing so. A soldier he remained to the very end teaching many of us who shared his final months, "to fight the good fight, to finish the race and keep the faith (2Timothy 4:7)."

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Beverly Williams; two children: Derrick (Tennelle) and Dana Williams; seven grandchildren; his mother, Dorothy Williams; two sisters: Donna and Charlene Williams, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family and friends may gather with the family on Thursday, April 5, 2012 from 10 a.m until time of service 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, 1100 North Capitol St. N.W. Washington, DC Interment: Cheltenham Veteran's Cemetery.
