Mary Lucille Herbert, 83, of Mechanicsville, MD, passed away at her daughter's residence on April 2, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Doston Ernest and Josephine Knight Montgomery of Bryantown, MD. Mary was born in Washington DC on February 23, 1929.

Her love for children led her to a career in teaching. She began her career by substitute teaching while earning her degree from Catholic University. She was a teacher at Holy Angels Sacred Heart School. During her 28 years there, she touched the lives of many. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening, as well as spending her summers picnicing and boating with her family. She was a member of the Mechanicsville Lion's Club.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Doston Ernest Montgomery, Sr. and Josephine Knight Montgomery, her brothers; William John "Moe" Montgomery and Doston Ernest "Sonny" Montgomery, Jr.

Mary is survived by her husband of 67 years, Paul Leroy Herbert, son, Philip Lee Herbert (Carole); daughter, Debra Ann Black (Earl); Grandchildren: Heather Herbert, Greg Herbert (Allison), Sarah Hope (Jon), Kaitlin Black and Christopher Black, Great-Grandchildren: Layla Hope, Kallie Hope, Savannah Hope, Preston Herbert, Peyton Herbert, and special person, Donna Herbert.

Family will receive friends for Mary's Life Celebration on Monday, April 9, 2012 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday April 10, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church 28297 Old Village Road, Mechanicsville, MD 20659. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Helen's, MD.

Pallbearers will be: Earl Black, Chris Black, Bobby Lowe, Greg Herbert, Satch Hall, Jon Hope. Honorary Pallbearers are her past Holy Angels Sacred Heart Students.
