Mr. Pierce was a painter for 50+ years with the Painter's Union, mostly at Giant Food Stores and a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD. He loved fishing, the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Redskins, frying fish (cooking and feeding people, especially Sunday morning breakfast). He enjoyed working in his yard and garden while being with his dogs. He enjoyed decorating his house for Christmas, playing Lotto and scratch offs, and attending sporting events for his kids and grandchildren.

He is the son of the late Preston Charles Pierce and the late Mary Columbia Myers Pierce and is predeceased by his five late brothers and two late sisters.

Mr. Pierce, Sr. is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rose Helen Pierce; three sons, John M. (Debbie) Pierce of Colorado, James Derren Pierce of North Carolina, and David E. (Denise) Pierce of La Plata; two daughters, Gail S. (Paul) Loving of Waldorf, MD and Cindy (Barry) Euzent of Waldorf, MD; three step-sons, Dale and Robert Dyer, and Chris Sorey; one sister, Marie (Rusty) Byrd of Newport News, VA; also survived by twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

His viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8PM with a Wake Service at 6:15PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel (5635 Washington Ave., La Plata, MD 20646). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 11AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Waldorf, MD (100 Village St., Waldorf, MD 20602). Father Alain Colliou will serve as clergy and Mr. Pierce, Sr.'s family members will serve as pallbearers. His internment will immediately follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD (3165 Mattawoman Beantown Rd., Waldorf, MD 20604).

Memorial contributions may be made to Charles County Humane Society (P. O. Box 1015, Waldorf, MD 20604).
