Anna Mary Shlagel, 91 of Waldorf died Monday March 19, 2012, at Civista Medical Center. Born on July 31, 1920, in Waldorf, MD on the family farm, she was the daughter of the late Mary and the late Alois Shlagel.

She lived almost her entire life at the family farm in Waldorf. But the last 5 years of her life were spent at the Genesis HealthCare Waldorf Center in good care. She was of Catholic faith and was a member of St. Peter's Church in Waldorf.

A name she was so fondly called was "Anna Banana". One of her daily favorite rituals was to watch Bob Barker's "The Price is Right" and she tried to never miss a show, followed by watching the daily Channel 9 news and weather. In her earlier years she enjoyed babysitting many of her nieces and nephews and took care of them like they were her own, even though she never had any children of her own. She liked to cook, talk on the phone, polish her fingernails and she enjoyed the simple things in life. Anna also liked being outdoors, she loved having visitors and spending time with family and friends. She was always loving, caring, and a gentle person with a big heart who loved to make everyone happy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Edward Shlagel, her sisters Elsie Shlagel Cooksey, and Margaret Shlagel Edelen, as well as nephews David Edelen Sr., Edward Lee Cooksey and great nephew Thomas William Schofield Jr.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
