Gordon James "Chief" Selkirk of White Plains, MD died on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at his residence with hospice. He was 57 years old. Son of the late William George Selkirk and the late Norma Cornelius Selkirk.

Mr. Selkirk was an Elevator Mechanic with Local Union #10 for 35 plus years and a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Waldorf, MD. He was a grateful active member of AA for the last 13 years, helping hundreds of people. He was a Native American Indian of the Oneida and Chippewa tribes. He loved his elevator work and was known by many for helping others.

Predeceased by his parents.

Survived by his wife of 29 years, Denise J. Selkirk; two sons, Gordon J. (Valerie) Selkirk of NC and William Selkirk of Brandywine, MD; three daughters, Brandie (Chuck) Bowie of Welcome, MD, Jenny (Kenny) Minor of Waldorf, MD, and Hollie (Kenny) Seminuk of Golden Beach, MD; two brothers, Robert K. (Elizabeth) Selkirk of Mt. Solon, VA and Charles (Tammy) Selkirk of Faulkner, MD; one sister, Patricia (Paul) Thorne of Pomfret, MD. Also survived by five grandchildren.

Visitation: Monday, March 12, 2012 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at New Life Wesleyan Church (9690 Shepherd's Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646). Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 11AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church (100 Village Street, Waldorf, MD 20602). Clergy: Fr. Alain Colliou. Interment: Resurrection Cemetery (8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, MD 20735).
