Michael "Mike" Glen Mays, Sr., 64, of Mechanicsville, MD formerly from Baltimore, MD., died on March 1, 2012, in Leonardtown, MD. Born December 23, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland he was the son of the late Mildred Margaret "Stapleton" and Raymond Stanley Mays, Sr.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Margaret Peggy Mays whom he married on April 11, 1968 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD.

Mr. Mays is survived by his children; Michael G. Mays, Jr., (Jackie) of Callaway, MD., Toni M. Keys (Eddy ) of Mechanicsville, MD., granddaughter Julie M. Mays of Callaway, MD., and brother Raymond S. Mays, Jr., of Baltimore, MD.

He attended Kenwood High school and graduated in 1965. Mr. Mays served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968 in Fr. Jackson, South Carolina, St. Louis, MO, and Fort George G. Meade in Maryland. Mr. Mays earned the National Defense Service Medal and Expert Badge Rifle M14. Mr. Mays went on to work as a drywall mechanic for Mays drywall in Mechanicsville, MD. He enjoyed taking naps and hangout out with family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 8, 2012 in the Mattingley-Gardner Funeral Home Chapel, Leonardtown, MD., from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM with prayers being recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 12:30 PM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, MD with Fr. Patrick Riffle officiating. Interment will follow in the Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Pallbearers will be Bill Bell, Pete Huntley, Glen Graves, Sid Tippett, John Riffle, and Steven Riffle. Honorary pallbearers will be Dickie Graves, Jennifer Ford, Becky Riffle, Hannah Riffle, Lewis Brown, and Steven Danielzyk.
