Mr. Earl J. Wilcoxson, 90, of Waterbury, CN, formerly of California, MD, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at his home. He was the husband of the late Harriet Anne (Owins) Wilcoxson.

Mr. Wilcoxson was born in Muskegon Heights, Mich. He was the son of the late Daniel and Elsie R. (Snodgrass) Wilcoxson and was a Waterbury resident since 2005 having formerly lived in Maryland since moving there in 1954. He was a veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Following his military service he served as a firefighter with the Quantico, VA Marine Base Fire Dept. from 1944 to 1954 and then with the Patuxent River Naval Air Station Fire Dept. from 1954 to 1971, retiring as Captain.

While a resident of Maryland, he was a member of the Lexington Park Methodist Church , a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post both California, MD, and a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of Lexington Park, MD.

He leaves a son, Stephen Earl Wilcoxson (Vicki) of Shippinsburg, PA and a daughter, Harriet Beck (Lewis) of Naugatuck CT; 2 grandchildren, David C. Beck and Jennifer L. Soltanas; 2 great-grandchildren, Cailyn Soltanas and Briana Beck.

Family will receive friends on Friday, February 3, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1501 N. W. 9th Ave., Miami, FL, 33136.
