Janice May Balenger, 72, of Charlotte Hall, MD, died January 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. Born May 5, 1939 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Earl Jonathan Vermillion and Beulah Fletcher Boley Vermillion.

Janice was a Postal Carrier with the Charlotte Hall Post Office. Of the Baptist faith, Janice was devoted to her family. She loved being with people and taught children at the Charlotte Hall Motel to swim. She loved to play bingo, slot machines, bowling and cards. In 1952 she won the "Miss Rosedale" beauty pageant. She was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Redskins and a fan of Ryan Newman in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. She also played softball in her earlier years.

Janice was predeceased by her parents and sons, James E. Balenger, Jeffrey D. Balenger, Teddy E. Balenger and William M. Balenger; brothers, Gene A. Vermillion and Thomas F. Vermillion.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Francis Balenger, Sr.; children, Gerald Francis Balenger, Jr., Mark Anthony Balenger and April Lynn Davis, and her husband Chuck; brother, Carl Vermillion, sisters, Delores Quinn and her husband Mike, Constance Ellis and Ruby Ring; grandchildren, Charlie Davis, Michael Balenger, Travis Balenger, Damian Plank, Stephanie Rose, Amanda Smith and Jeannie Balenger; also 9 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for Janice's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 11:00a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols. Pastor Paul Goodwin will officiate. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bryantown, MD.
