John Henry East, 75, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, passed away at St. Mary's Hospice House on January 23, 2012 surrounded by family. He was born on October 16, 1936 in Ruffin, North Carolina.

He was the son of the late Preston East and the late Mary Barker East.

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a plumber and sheet metal mechanic but had talent in many other trades. John loved watching television especially Sanford & Son and cared deeply for his 2 dogs, Nellie and Ruby.

Aside from his parents, John is predeceased by 3 of his brothers, Eugene East, James East, and Fred East; and his 2 sisters, Genella Gardner and Frances Nedrow.

John is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Kay East; his 4 children, Tina Marie East, John Michael East (Marisa), Doris Spittle (Steve), and Dawn Miller (Brian); his brother, Glenn East (Mae); his 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nichole, Ryan, Katie, Taylor, and Kyle; and his 2 great grandchildren, Isabella and Lillian.

Family will receive friends for a Life Celebration on Thursday, January 26, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Friday January 27, 2012 at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will follow on Friday to Trinity Memorial Gardens, 3221 Mattawoman-Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.

Pallbearers are Ryan Spittle, Brian Miesowitz, Joe Gibson, Steve Poynter, Kevin Gray, and Joe Aguilar.
