James Stanley Croson, Jr., 68, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Port Tobacco, MD, died Nov. 29, 2011 in Baltimore, MD. Born April 16, 1943 in Washington, DC, he was the son of Melba Ruth (nee Hudson) Croson and the late James Stanley Croson, Sr.

Jim retired in 2002 after a 35 year career in construction. A respected and upstanding member of Asbestos Workers Local 24, he served as a supervisor running Abatement/Insulation projects throughout the Washington, DC Metro Area. Major projects included Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Facility, Chalk Point Power Plant and the University of Maryland..

Jim's favorite times were traveling with his wife, family and friends to the beach, casino destinations or adventurous cruises. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids play sports and participate in other activities and most conversations with him included these events. Jim was blessed with many friends because he was a good friend himself.

He is survived by his mother, Melba Croson of Brandywine, MD, daughter Laurie Lynn Croson of West Palm Beach, FL, James Stanley Croson, III of Waldorf, MD and grandchildren Taylor, Tyler & Jagr, step son David Ashton and wife Lynette, grandchildren Benjamin & Elizabeth of Issue, MD, step son John Ortman of Savannah, GA, brother Gary Croson and wife Joan of Waldorf, MD with nephews Christopher and Joseph along with a large extended family.

Services will be held Friday, Dec 9th at the First Baptist Church of St. Charles in St. Charles, MD. Greeting at 5:45pm, service at 6:00pm with reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Jim to Hospice of Charles County, MD Friends of Hospice.
