Mary Mildred Lawhorn, 89, of Mechanicsville, MD, formerly of Fort Washington, MD, died at her home on September 8, 2011. Born on October 24, 1921 in Delapane VA, she was the daughter of William Rutherford and Minnie Pearson Rutherford.

Mary retired from the Prince Georges County School System where she was a cafeteria worker. She was always everyone's "Nana" caring for family and friends. She also loved dogs, especially her Pit Bull, "Red".

Mary was predeceased by her parents; husband, Lawrence Lawhorn; daughter, Patricia Ann Butler; siblings, Grover Rutherford, Howard "Snookie" Rutherford and Lawrence Rutherford.

She is survived by; her brother, William Rutherford; grandchildren, Tamara Maples (Joseph Sprouse), Robert Butler (Sandra) and Charlene Robey; great grandchildren, Kristin Wright, Dalton Maples, Blake Butler and Stephanie Butler and special family friend, Myrna Allder

The family will receive friends for Mary's Life Celebration on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols. The Rev. James Chance will officiate. Interment will follow at Marshall Cemetery, Marshall, VA.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Sprouse, Raymond Arduini, John Buchan, Dalton Maples , Dennis Miller and James Sprouse.
