Dorothy (Dottye) Garland Stafford, 86 of Leonardtown, MD died peacefully at home on August 7, 2011. Dottye was born on September 13, 1924 in Hammond, IN to the late William M. Garland and Mary Mary M. (Saffer) Garland.

She grew up in Fancy Farm, KY and was a resident of Hilton Head Island, SC for 34 years and Leonardtown, MD for 6 years. Dottye graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing, Memphis, TN in 1955.

Dottye is survived by her daughter, Genise B. Rondina of Leonardtown, MD, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her beloved dachshund, Bo, and siblings, Marilyn Miller, Ellen Forrester, Lucille Carrico, Louise Carrico, all of Mayfield, KY, Teresa Desai of Indianapolis, IN, Bobby Garland of Murray, KY, Joe Garland of Lone Oak, KY and Judy Elliott of Fancy Farm, KY.

Dottye was preceded in death by her daughter, Christi Case Swinney and siblings, Margaret Ross, William Garland, Roseanne Thomas and Joan M. Garland.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, August 13, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, Fancy Farm, KY. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Jerome's Catholic Church Cemetery.
