Reid Marshall Gilley, 13 of Hughesville, MD, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 6:42 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2011, at his home. Reid was born on February 23, 1998, in Oklahoma City, OK to Ridge and Debbie Gilley.

Reid was a sixth grader at Milton Somers Middle School in Charles County and had previously attended Berry Elementary, T.C. Martin Elementary and J.P. Ryon Elementary. Reid was loved by all who met him; his laugh and smile were contagious. Reid unconditionally loved everyone he met and inspired others to always try their hardest and to persevere through all circumstances of life.

Reid was diagnosed with a leukodystrophy at one year of age and endured multiple disabilities and numerous surgeries. Even through his many trials in life, he could always manage to find a smile and a laugh, and was able to enjoy life to its fullest. His smile will be remembered by all who knew him.

Son of Ridge Morgan Gilley and Deborah Kay Bunning Gilley.

Survived by his parents, Ridge and Debbie Gilley; siblings, Deana, Rachel and Hannah; grandmothers, Jeanne Gilley and Florence Bunning; aunts and uncles, Nancy Heavey, John Gilley, Paige Gilley, Jason Gilley, Kevin Gilley, Tracy and Tammy Koch, Alan and Joanne Bunning, Eric and Angie Davids; 13 cousins and extended family members. He is also survived by his devoted nurse Jeanne Pavero and her children, Katie, Gage and Bridget.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 10 AM at New Life Church, 9690 Shepherds Creek Place, La Plata, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jill's House, P.O. Box 9104, McLean, VA 22102, a respite facility for the disabled where Reid recently received services.
