Marjorie Stewart Gagliardi, M.D. died peacefully in Waldorf, Md. after a long illness on June 15, 2011. She was 85 years old.

Marjorie grew up in Ft. Thomas, KY, receiving BS and MD degrees from the University of Cincinnati. She met her husband, Carl A. Gagliardi, M.D. while she and her husband started the Downriver Pediatrics practice in Lincoln Park, MI. Together they made the health and care of children their passion until they retired from private practice in 1980. Marjorie and Carl moved to La Plata, Md. in 1989 to be near their daughter's family. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a volunteer Head Start pediatrician, contract bridge Life Master, avid traveler and member of Christ Church in La Plata, Md. Her favorite role in life was being a loving mom and grandma.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Gagliardi Clarke and her husband Eric Clarke of La Plata, Md.; her son, Dr. Carl Gagliardi and his wife Deena Greer, M.D. of College Station, TX; her granddaughter Alyson Clarke Murray and her husband Kyle Murray of Edgewater, Md.; and her brother VAdm (ret) James Stewart and his wife Norma Stewart of Venice, FL.

The family will receive friends on Saturday June 18, 2011 at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata, Md. from 9:30am to service time at 11am. Interment to follow in the Mt. rest Cemetery La Plata, Md.
