Mr. Michael grew up helping his mother operate a dairy farm on Hatton Creek. He attended Glasva School and played Semi-Pro Soccer. He worked as a toll-collector at the Harry Nice Bridge. He was drafted into the Army and served as Corporal for two years. For 35 years he worked and managed at the Mid-Atlantic Coca- Cola Company. After retiring, he worked for three years as a Salesman for the Burch Oil Company.

Over the course of his life, he participated in many functions including President of the PTA at Walter J. Mitchell School, Vice President of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of the Maryland Soft Drink Association, and member of the Waldorf Jaycees and Lions Club. He enjoyed gardening, baseball, being on the water, and he had a special knack for telling jokes.

He was son of the late Jerome L. Michael and the late Mary Elizabeth Michael, who just passed away, at the age of 103, on March 11, 2011.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his youngest daughter, Jana Michael.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Catherine "Kitty" Michael; one son, Jerry (Judy) Michael; four daughters, Kay (Glenn) St. Clair of Charlotte Hall, MD, Trudy Raby, Terri (Ralph) Baker of Prince Frederick, MD and Sandy (Steve) Kalmus; and two sisters, Helen Sevier and Mary MacDonald. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will take place on Sunday, April 3, 2011 from 3-6pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 5pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Rev. Mark Roberson will officiate. Interment will take place on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 2pm at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, MD 20623 Pallbearers will be Jerry Michael, Ray Michael, Aaron Michael, Danny Michael, Jeremy St. Clair, Lee Baker, Jimmy Baker and Douglas Kalmus. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kitty Bowling, Chester Bowling, Sonny Burch, Buddy Burch, Dee Goldsmith, Joe Saunders, Jimboy Williams, Phillip Hamilton, Wayne Dudley and the United States Army Honor Guard.
