Nancy Patricia Swann, 76, of Lexington Park, MD died November 14, 2010. Born August 19, 1934 in Waldorf, MD, she was the daughter of William Purcell Gardiner and Agnes Cooksey Gardiner Bean. She attended Waldorf Elementary School and graduated from LaPlata High School, Class of 1951.

Nancy married Charles Swann in 1951. He died in 1989.

Over the years she made her home in Waldorf, Brandywine, Bryantown and Lexington Park. She was a homemaker, but operated Lloyd's Hair Stylist in Waldorf, MD for 10 years. Nancy loved bowling, gardening and playing softball. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was also predeceased by siblings, William Purcell Gardiner, Jr., Edward W. Gardiner, Kathleen Elaine Gardiner, George Henry Gardiner and James Nolan Gardiner and companion, Gideon A. Dyson.

She is survived by sons, Smiley C. Swann, Jr. and companion, John Crampton of Calvert County, Frankie W. Swann and Frederick J. Swann and wife, Kim, all of Lexington Park, MD; daughter, Patricia Ann Swann of Lexington Park, MD; sisters, Carola Estevez, Martha Ann McKean, Mary Virginia Boggs and Barbara Lee Shelton; grandchildren, Christopher Joseph Swann and Angela N. Insley and her husband, Christopher and great granddaughters, Fiona Insley and Avery Insley.

The family will receive friends for Nancy's Life Celebration on Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Holy Face Catholic Church, Great Mills, MD. Prayers will be held at 6 p.m. A visitation will be held on Friday at Holy Face from 9 - 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00a.m celebrated by Rev. Joseph Calis. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650 or St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
