Mr. Gibson was the Owner/ Operator of Gibson Contracting for more than 35 years. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Ripley, MD. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, watching wrestling on television and was an avid Redskins fan. He most enjoyed being at home with his family.

He was son of the late Otis Gibson and the late Bessie Collins Gibson.

He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yevon Pruitt Gibson; two sons, Roy (Debora) Gibson, Jr. and Robert (Mary) Gibson, both of La Plata, MD; one daughter, Judy (Tim) Frye of Mount Jackson, VA; two sisters, Hazel and Geneva Sexton, both of Coburn, VA; one brother-in-law, Ellis Sexton; and seven grandchildren, Bethany, Leah, Catie, Christopher, Matthew, Paul and Kimberly. Also survived by three great-grandchildren, Robbie, Madison, and Emmaleigh.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm with Prayers at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at 11am at Bethel Baptist Church, 6705 Boots Lane, La Plata, MD 20646.

Clergy will be the Rev. Mack Burton and the Rev. William Sutton

Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD

Pallbearers will be Ellis Sexton, Robert Pickle, Brent Garner, Tim Frye, Matthew Gibson and Ricky Zagrodnichek.

Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Gibson and Paul Frye.
