Robert graduated from La Plata High School in 1977. He worked for the Washington Coca-Cola Bottling Company for more than 24 years. He loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. In his younger days, he played baseball in high school and in the Charles/ St. Mary's Men's League. He married the love of his life in 1979. He had the strongest love for his family. He found tremendous joy in watching his own son play baseball, spending time with his wife and daughter and felt so blessed to have the gift of his grandson, Camden. He truly was a family man. He felt blessed by the strong friendships he formed early in life and maintained to his final days.

He was son of the late Harold Roger Cooksey and the late Mary Louise Harrison Cooksey

He was predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Diana Jean "Tammi" Cooksey; one son, Jacob Somerset Cooksey; one daughter, Deborah Renee Cooksey; one grandson, Camden Ryon Rabon; one brother, H. Roger (Betsy) Cooksey, Jr.; four sisters, Betsy Cooksey (David) Lewis, Brenda Cooksey (Billy) Gee, Bonnie Cooksey (Amon) Brown and Barbara Cooksey; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Annie Cantor; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Terry) Cantor and Jay (Yvonne) Cantor; and one sister-in-law, Susan (Tony) Linassi. Also survived by 25 nieces and nephews

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2010 from 4-8pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 10am at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

Clergy will be Father Rory Conley.

Interment will be private.
